Welcome racers! As we mentioned in last week’s post, we will be taking an in-depth look at exceptional circle tracks around the nation on a regular basis. How do we choose which tracks to profile in the Pit Pass Series, you ask? Simple—we let you decide! You don’t need to vote or send us an email, we simply look to see which pages are being searched for and viewed the most.
Well, as our first ever profile of the Pit Pass Series, we have Mohawk International Raceway!
Mohawk International Raceway is located in Hogansburg, New York and features a fast, 4/10 mile dirt loop. MIR runs the following classes:
- Modified
- Sportsman
- Pro Stock
- Mod Lite
- Bandit
- Enduro
Being located in upstate New York, just a stone’s throw from the St. Lawrence River and the Canadian border, things are still a little chilly around MIR. They’ve already posted their 2013 schedule and will be open for testing on May 11th and kicking off their full show opening night on May 17th. You can view the full 2013 schedule here.
MIR runs a slick track Enduro race, known as the MIR Ironman Slick Enduro, which seems like loads of fun. Last year, the Ironman Slick Enduro featured 48 cars racing in 2, 50 lap races. No 4-cylinders in this slick race, only 6 and 8 cylinder cars allowed—our favorite! No sign yet of an Enduro on the 2013 schedule.
If you’ve never visited Mohawk International Speedway or you missed out on some races last season, we highly recommend grabbing a beverage and watching the excellent video below, which features nearly 2 hours of footage from the August 30, 2012 race:
With the slick track, grass infield and stellar competition, MIR seems like an excellent way to spend a Friday night.
